Show them something weird! They'll lean forward in their seats and ask questions! And just like that, you create the need to know. Once they need to know, they are ready to learn. Teach them how to ask good questions so they can develop their inquiries. Provide opportunities so they can connect the new knowledge with old. Embed visible formative check ups to reveal emerging misconceptions. Teach them the corrections. Inquiry does not mean 'not teaching'!
